We all got asked the question, "Is sanctification our responsibility or Gods?" and though i probably don't understand all of the implications of this question, heres my two cents.
My definition of sanctification is as follows: a person becoming who they were truly meant to be through the sweet actions of God. It seems to me like there are two actions that take place when someone gets sanctified. God gives us the chance and we get to take part in.
I don't like to look at God's part of the process as a responsibility. Indeed, he chose to create a way for us to get sanctified, but i think he did that because he couldn't see it any other way. The guy loves us like crazy.
Now i suppose we have the choice to receive the sanctification process God has given to us. Merriam-Webster defines responsibility as: able to answer for one's conduct and obligations. Based on that definition, I think sanctification is our resposibility. Jesus tells Paul in Acts 27:18 that he is sending him to the Gentiles so they may join "among those who are sanctified by faith in me." We are sanctified by our faith, and our faith is our choice.
I might have it wrong, but from my current understanding, that seems to sum up a little about what i think.

Great thoughts! I like your writing style.
ReplyDeleteDo you think, though, that if sanctification is our responsibility, then that probably explains why we don't see more "sanctified" people around us?
